The phrase “we saved the best for last” comes to mind as we write this narrative about MFI Minerva and her son MFI Shadow Ranger. In this last lot we are offering a rare grey suri dam and cria package, with MFI Minerva bred back to Peruvian Silver Shadow! At the 2002 AOBA National Conference Fleece Show, MFI Minerva’s fleece won four different ribbons: AFCNA Choice, Handspinner’s Choice, Mill’s Choice, and Second Place. MFI Minerva is the daughter of the grey suri herdsire El Nino, owned by Ameripaca Alpaca Breeding Company. Other suri offspring from El Nino and Silver Shadow have been offered from time to time at Breeder's Choice Auctions, and each were outstanding in their color consistency and locks. However, this is the first time we are offering an El Nino daughter with a Silver Shadow son at side and Minerva rebred - a three-pack, two of them (and quite possibly the third) grey suris! Shadow Ranger is a special blending of grey genetics from his grey dam and his grey sire Peruvian Silver Shadow. Silver Shadow is an outstanding suri male and very consistent in producing both rose and silver grey. He is the offspring of 4Peruvian Silver Bullet and 4Peruvian Silver Orchid, two grey suri parents, and as of this writing he has produced 62% female crias. When bred to silver-grey females, he has produced silver-grey, rose-grey, or black crias 100% of the time. 67% of the time they are silver-grey or rose-grey! When bred to rose-grey females, he has produced 100% black crias. Even more amazing, when bred to fawn or beige, he has produced 60% silver-grey or rose-grey crias! Magic Rose went on to win 1st Place and Color Champion the NEXT DAY in the 2003 Customer Appreciation Futurity. Minerva and Shadow Ranger sell with full Magical Farms guarantees. Minerva is slightly too old, and Shadow Ranger slightly too young to compete in the futurity this year - but Shadow Ranger himself, as well as his future crias, will be eligible to compete in upcoming futurities when in the correct age range.
