If we were to choose one of our mature females as a “rock star,” PPeruvian Mayiena, MFI Peruvian Melosa’s Dam, would certainly have her name “up in lights!” She has produced numerous top quality crias for us bred to a variety of outstanding males. Another Mayiena daughter, Mallory, produced Peruvian Monsanto, the multi-champion male being offered in our Breeder’s Choice auction this year. My Peruvian Marriott, another award-winning male and son of Mayiena, was purchased by BelleauWood Farms in our 2002 Breeder’s Choice Auction. She has produced crias from rose grey to dark brown all the way to white! She is an important ingredient in the lineage of all of her crias. We first bred Peruvian Mayiena in 1994 after her purchase and she has given us a cria every single year -- at 12 years old she is once again pregnant with her ninth cria! Her fleece is still fine with excellent character, and she is a rock star in every way a female can aspire to stardom!

Her daughter, MFI Peruvian Melosa, should make an outstanding female cornerstone in any farm’s breeding program.

We will breed MFI Peruvian Melosa to MFI Peruvian Donovan, our fawn signature herdsire and a proven producer of champions. Donovan is a son of accoyo Peruvian Augusto, who sold at our 2000 Breeder’s Choice Auction for a world record $226,000. We entered Donovan’s fleece (and those of a couple of his offspring), in the 2004 AOBA National Conference Fleece Show, the largest alpaca fleece show ever held where the competition was staggering. Peruvian Donovan, now five years old, won First Place Male Fleece, Color Champion, and Breeder’s Choice. This means he competed against fleeces of ALL age groups to win the championship! In addition, his daughter MFI Peruvian Ramanda won First Place, Color Champion, and Mill's Choice while his other daughter, MFI Peruvian Almerea, won First Place, Brown Color Champion, and Breeder's Choice Fleece! (Almerea also won First Place, Color Champion and Best Crimp at the 2003 AOBA National Fleece Show.)

She is pre-registered to compete in the 2004 Magical Farms/Ameripaca Customer Appreciation Futurity to be held the day after the Breeders Choice Auction. Additionally, because she is being bred to Peruvian Donovan, her first cria will be eligible to compete in upcoming Customer Appreciation Futurities when he or she is between the ages of six months and two years of age. Her purchase can be financed for up to four years at 1% over prime with only 25% down.
