A few years ago, Alpacas Magazine had an issue, and we believe it to be the only issue, where farms could feature their “Grand Dams.” We believe that the quality of the dam in regard to reproductive soundness, fleece and conformation are every bit as important as the herdsire we use in every breeding decision at our farm. My Peruvian Extraordinaire’s fabulous dam, Peruvian Eliana (now owned by our customers Bob and Leslie Gosnell, Irish Valley Farm) was one of only nine females featured in that ad. A picture of Peruvian Eliana is featured below and you can see she is a breathtaking female.
We needed another high quality colored female in this year’s auction, so Libby has stepped forward and offered one from her own private stock, My Peruvian Extraordinaire! She is an “extra-ordinary” female who sports a dense, bay black fleece with high amplitude, multiple crimps per inch. These are qualities rarely found in such dark fleeces. If Libby were to keep Extraordinaire, she would breed her to a black male to help genetically “set” the color, such as Peruvian Mesquite or Peruvian Black Knight, co-owned with Heart’s Desire Farm. Just imagine the cria!
Peruvian Donovan is her sire, our fawn signature herdsire and a proven producer of champions. Donovan is a son of accoyo Peruvian Augusto who sold at our 2000 Breeder’s Choice Auction for a world record $226,000. We entered Donavan’s fleece, and those of a couple offspring, in the 2004 AOBA National Conference Fleece Show. This was the largest alpaca fleece show ever held, and the competition was staggering! Peruvian Donovan, now five years old, won First Place Male Fleece and Color Champion. This means he competed against fleeces of ALL age groups to win the championship! In addition, his daughter MFI Peruvian Ramanda won First Place and Color Champion and his other daughter, MFI Peruvian Almerea, won First Place and Brown Color Champion (Almerea also won First Place, Color Champion and Best Crimp at the 2003 AOBA National Fleece Show). Not only is My Peruvian Extraordinaire EXTRA-ORDINARY, but so is her pedigree. Libby has refused all offers to date to sell her, so don’t miss your only chance at this gorgeous bay black female! With Peruvian Donovan, accoyo Peruvian Augusto and Peruvian Eliana in her pedigree, she is a rare offer. |
