Last
year's lot "A" was a Segway (see picture at right), a
sophisticated, sleek transportation device and an incredible
piece of engineering. The Segway sold to Mike and Stephanie
Barnhart, The Alpaca Trading Company, and the Barnharts now cruise
in style up to their mailbox, down the hill to their barn, and you
might sometimes see them glide silently through the aisles at alpaca shows.
This year's Lot
"A" swaps engineering for ingenuity, and is not so much
sophisticated as it is just plain old fun. If the Segway
were likened to a well polished (if somewhat temperamental) Jaguar,
this racing Bar Stool is an American Muscle car along the
lines of a 19641/2 Mustang or an old GTO.
Fire up the 4.5
horsepower engine and challenge Mike and his fancy Segway to a
race - I'd be willing to bet on the outcome.
But that would be like
asking an MGB to enter a NASCAR race, now wouldn't it.
